About the Area

Carlisle, the main city of Cumbria, has many historic features and places of interest, not least of these is the almost 2,000. year old castle, the imposing citadel gates, built by Henry Tudor, and the nearby Hadrians wall. The wall is visited by many walkers and cyclists during the warmer months and many of them stay at our guest house at the end/start of their adventure and recommend our breakfasts to keep them going till lunch- time.
The award winning Tullie House Museum hosts a wealth of interesting treasures from the Roman times to modern sculptures,i.e the infamous cursing stone.Carlisle Cathedral is a small but impressive building with its beautiful ceiling and Medievil painted panels.
If historys not for you Carlisle also has a lively night life with many pubs and clubs. It also boasts excellent restaurants, within five minutes walk from the guest house there are acclaimed Italian, Greek, English and Thai establishments, all family friendly as they start serving early evening.
The Sands Centre Theatre shows an increasingly impressive list of acts and concerts, ie the Chinese State Circus, Al Murry and Paul Weller, plus shows such as Joseph.
And dont forget to visit the city centre with its great shopping area and plentiful cafes , plus the expansive pedestrian plaza which hosts the continental market four times a year and a farmers market once a month.
