I started a 6-month contract in London in early-Dec 2009. After initially trying several B&Bs - including Fig Tree House - during Winter, I returned to Fig Tree House in mid-Feb 2010, and stayed for more than 3 months until my contract ended on 28 May. Ruth, John and Gerry could not have been kinder or more accomodating, and I am so glad that I found them through the internet. It can be very hard working away from home and family, but as one entrant above said, I really did feel that I was coming home when I returned to Fig Tree after work each night. That was so important to me, as well as it being as clean, warm and comfortable as it undoubtedly is. Ruth, John & Gerry, I cannot thank you enough for making me feel so welcome. I felt from the start that I was more than just a customer, and I really came to feel part of the household. If I am ever your way again, I will be glad to visit, and maybe even stay again - if you can fit me in!! Highly, HIGHLY recommended, readers.
About Hither Green
The B&B is located just an 11 minute train ride from London Bridge station. The local SE region main line rail station Hither Green zone 3 is only 3 minutes walk from the Bed and Breakfast. Oxford Street in central London is only a 30 minute journey from the same local station. For those arriving by air, Heathrow and Stansted airports are both approximately 90 minutes by public transport. Gatwick airport is approximately 80 minutes by public transport. If you are in London on business the home is also only 4 minutes ride from Lewisham DLR station giving good access to Excel Centre in Docklands 35 minutes and the 02 Arena Greenwich 15 minutes. Going to an event at the 02 then we have an associate double B&B only 5 minutes from the Arena.
As well as easy access to central London the home is only 15 minutes ride from trendy Blackheath Village and historic Greenwich where you could enjoy the Millennium Experience and the Royal Park. Both of these areas have various markets, excellent pubs, restaurants and shops. The Glades shopping centre in nearby Bromley is an excellent shopping centre - located within easy reach of our home but with prices much more realistic than in central London.
