The Old Hall Reviews
About the Area
The Old Hall is at the top of the village of Old Bainbridge with its waterfall on the shortest river in England - the River Bain. Enjoy the tranquility but watch out for the milk trucks on the Bridge, and pick up the morning paper from Metcalfes garage, overlooked by the site of the Roman Fort...
A view from The Old Hall... past the excellent Corn Mill tea shop, past the butchers - Gadges sausages are to die for - and youll probably find it the most entertaining butchers shop youve ever seen batteries not included.
Then at the other end of the village, for drinks lunch and dinner there is the Rose & Crown Hotel with bar snacks and a restaurant.
Day fishing permits are available from The Rose and Crown courtesy of the Wensleydale Angling Association with additional course fishing at nearby Semerwater Lake, day permits from the farm.
For the kids theres a playground on the village green and for mom & dad - its visible from the tables outside the pub.
The stocks might also come in useful, located on the main green where the Historic Horn was employed.
Bainbridge is ideally situated for walkers and Mtbrs/cyclists, within easy reach of many public footpaths and bridleways including a 7 km ancient Roman road, a must downhill for mtbers.
