Beechlands Bed and Breakfast in Whitby
19 September 2014 by carol
We have just returned to Beechlands for the 3rd time. We love staying here as we are made so welcome. They really look after us. The food is lovely and lots of choice. The house is clean with comfy beds. We will be coming back again.
Beechlands Bed and Breakfast in Whitby

I received a very warm welcome at Beechlands. Breakfast was hearty and delicious. When I left it too late to get dinner at the local pub one evening, Anne and Paul insisted on making me a toasted sandwich which was most welcome. I would definitely stay there again and recommend Beechlands to anyone looking for a very reasonably priced and friendly B&B.
About the Area
The North York Moors have been a national park since 1952 and they offer a huge variety of things to see and do from the huge expanses of open moorland covered in purple heather and the sound of upland birds. There are also towering sea-cliffs, sandy beaches, ancient woodland, grassy dales, pretty villages and historic sites.
You can visit historic abbeys, castles, churches and ancient routes. The North York Moors has around 2,300km of paths and tracks, making it a walkers and cyclists paradise.
There is also eighteen miles of relaxation on the North Yorkshire Moors steam railway travelling from Whitby to Pickering. Each locomotive has cosy wood panelled carriages and a friendly conductor service. There are often special seasonal events, like the Santa Express and Thomas the Tank weekends, too so check whats on at the local tourist information centre.
Other popular destinations include Helmsley, a very pretty market town with a 12th century castle. Nearby are Pickering, Ryedale, Rosedale, Hutton-le-Hole and Thornton-le-Dale. Attractions for days out include Eden Camp, Flamingoland and Castle Howard. There are many attractive villages on the moors including Goathland Heartbeats Aidensfield, Grosmont, Lealholme and Egton Bridge
Head east, for all the attractions of the Yorkshire Coast, like a day by the seaside in Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay, Staithes and Runswick Bay. Further south along the coast is Scarborough, Bridlington, Filey and Flamborough Head
