About the Area
The village of Northlew dates from Saxon times and has a traditional village square off which is Elmfield. It is 7 miles from the market town of Okehampton and close to Hatherleigh, Highampton and Bratton Clovelly. The Cornish border is 20 minutes away. Dartmoor is a short drive. For a peaceful break you will find nowhere better either relaxing in the gardens of Elmfield or walking on the many country footpaths or for the more strenuous a venture onto Dartmoor. There are also many places to visit both National Trust properties and local museums and the Eden Project is only an hour distant. There is easy access to the north and south coasts. The local hostelry provides splendid evening meals and is well thought of.
