Show Bed and Breakfasts Near Keswick

Keswick is situated on the shores of Lake Derwentwater, the widest lake in England, and under the watchful gaze of Skiddaw, the fourth highest peak in England. These two natural wonders create the perfect backdrop for this picturesque market town but are by no means all that Keswick has to offer.

There are many other peaks which are easily accessible from Keswick. Blencathra, Cat Bells, Grizedale Pike and Causey Pike are just a few. In fact the legendary Cumbrian fell runner Bob Graham visited 42 Lakeland peaks in 24 hours starting and finishing at The Moot Hall in Keswick!

Also within easy reach is Borrowdale Valley, considered by many to be the most beautiful valley in the country, and which boasts the future King as one of its regular visitors.

Keswick also offers an abundance of attractions within its busy town centre. There are lots of interesting shops in which to browse and buy many of which are small independent traders with goods you may not find elsewhere. So rare in these days of chain stores and cloned shopping centres.

There are also plenty of pubs and bars in the town in which to sup and natter. Whether its a log fire and real ale youre after or cocktails in a stylish wine bar, youll find what youre looking for.

There is a wealth of choice when it comes to eating out too. As youd expect there are all the comforting traditional favourites available as well as cuisine from further afield such as Italian, Mexican, Indian and Chinese. Plus there are numerous cafes in the town offering drinks, light lunches or not so light if you prefer! and snacks.

Keswick also boasts many attractions to keep you occupied. Here are just a few:

Theatre by the Lake - A 400-seat theatre which is home to Cumbrias leading professional theatre company offering a summer season of plays, a Christmas show and an Easter production. The theatre also hosts a wide range of visiting drama, music, dance, talks, comedy and film.

Alhambra Cinema – Take a trip back in time to the golden age of cinema in this charming building which has entertained audiances since 1913 - The films, however, are bang up to date! Also home to the annual Keswick Film Festival. The 8th Keswick Film Festival runs from 15-18th February 2007.

In addition to these there are Lake Cruises, Museums, Galleries and special annual events such as The Keswick Jazz Festival and Mountain Festivals in May, a Literary festival in January, a Film Festival in February and the Beer Festival in June.
