The local area offers spectacular scenery, beautiful beaches, abundant wildlife and a range of sporting and cultural activities. Whatever your reason for visiting Dalbeattie, you are sure to be delighted.

Fishing - The Solway Firth is one of the most important estuaries in Britain and offers a host of birdwatching opportunities, encouraging enthusiasts to return time and again. During the winter months it provides a home to 40,000 wildfowl and 83,000 waders. The many local attractions include the Red Kite trail, the Ospreys at Caelaverlock Reserve and Mersehead Reserve, which is located less than 5 miles from Dalbeattie, and has a visitors centre, two trails and two hides.

Cycling - Dalbeattie forest is part of the 7stanes mountain biking network, which offers more than 400km of the world’s finest biking, all in fantastic settings. There is a broad range of graded trails to follow, including those for beginners and families, whilst the more experienced rider should relish the challenge of the Slab, the Terrible Twins and Volunteer Ridge. Many visitors also choose to explore the local area by bike, taking advantage of many miles of quiet country roads to appreciate the stunning scenery.

Golf - From the friendly local club in Dalbeattie, to the championship standard Southerness links, visitors to the area are spoilt for choice. With 18 golf courses within a 30 mile radius, Dalbeattie could not be better placed for a golfing holiday in Dumfries and Galloway.

Fishing - When in Dalbeattie you are never far from water. Excellent salmon and trout fishing can be found in the Urr River with Salmon fishing permitted until the end of November.

Historic places of interest, castles, museums and beautiful gardens also contribute to making this part of Scotland a truly wonderful area. Come along and experience it for yourself
