The current Minster dates from 627 AD and took some 250 years to build, the largest of its type in Europe, it attracts visitors from far and wide.

Later Kings and Queens used York as their capital in the North, before modern communications, and York was an important stronghold for them all - laid siege to during the Civil War, the City Walls have seen much blood spilt.

The City is now far more peaceful, but with the wide range of historic and modern attractions available - remains the capital city of the North.
